About Mina ME
Out with Winter and welcome SUMMER!
Mina ME summer wear was created in March 2010 by Yasmine Pharaon. Combining a love for vibrant, fresh and striking colors, and a whole-hearted belief that good luck charms can go a long way, Mina designs offer the wearer a chance to express the happier side of fashion. The Hand of Fatima and the elephants - both believed to bring good fortune - are two motifs that dominated the initial collections.
With beach sarongs, t-shirts, maxi and short dresses, every item from Mina is hand-made, calling upon the skills of five people from the design to the production stage. For that reason, some items may vary in color, size, material and texture.
After all, isn’t that what being unique is all about? We want you to feel comfortable, relaxed and most of all happy while wearing our items under the sun!
In 2012 Mina ME introduced its new item the Shalee! – 100% silk chiffon and 100% silk twill scarves that can be worn in numerous ways. The Shalee aims at emphasizing the multi-functionality of the scarf to mold and shape to each wearer's liking. The concept is taking a piece of fabric and shaping it to your own personal style and mood- whether you feel like wearing it to the beach as a sarong, out on a summer night as a halter, a fancy dinner as a shawl or to work, tied around your neck - you can find your own special way of wearing it!
At Mina ME, we like to add a special touch to each of our products. To that end, the Mina ME Shalee comes with a little illustrated booklet that shows you the different ways to wear it along with a reusable bag that allows you fold it up neatly and carry it around for whenever a fashion emergency comes knocking.
The Name
What’s in a name?
Mina, which is the Arabic word for seaport, evokes the spirit of the sea and a ‘fun in the sun’ approach to life. Mina is also an arrangement of letters lifted from the designer, Yasmine’s, name as well as meaning ‘fish’ in Sanskrit. Karmic? We think so.
The ME part of the brand’s name is testament to its production in the Middle East, currently manufactured in Jordan. A large part of Mina.ME’s mission is to utilize the craftsmanship of local workers and artisans and promote the production of local and sustainable items.
